Changes to International Shipping Methods Using Envelopes

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) has announced an important regulatory change concerning the shipment of goods using envelopes. From January 1, 2026 onward, International tracked letters carrying merchandise will no longer be allowed by European postal services. All shipments containing goods must use parcel or small packet services that comply with applicable customs and security regulations.

While these changes settle, we have removed all international shipping methods on Cardmarket that use tracked letter envelopes. The first trackable shipping methods will be for small parcels. Cardmarket has kept a couple international shipping methods using untracked letters with a maximum weight between 20 and 100 grams.

Although these regulations govern the shipment of goods internationally, local postal services have their own regulations that may differ from the literal interpretation of the law.

For untracked shipping methods involving envelopes, please ensure your envelope matches the expected thickness a normal envelope, like those containing documents, so it will meet the requirements for untracked letters.

For buyers, this unfortunately means international shipping methods will be more expensive than in the past. For professional sellers, you can use the Shipping Methods feature to create your own shipping methods to offer your customers a better deal. However, we closely monitor available international shipping methods and are on the lookout for alternatives that are more economical and accessible to all.

Happy Shopping!
