You asked for it and we can finally deliver it! From now on, all Cardmarket users have the option to enable Two-Factor Authentication for an additional layer of account security.
We have been developing this feature for quite some time now and, with the help of our Closed and Public Beta Tester groups, we have managed to ensure a positive experience across devices. Your feedback has been incredibly valuable, from pointing out bugs to recommending features.
Two-Factor Authentication adds more security to your Cardmarket account by requiring a second step to perform a defined set of actions on Cardmarket. Once you have opted in to 2FA, you choose which actions will require that six-digit code sent to your mobile device, whether it's signing in, withdrawing money, or other features.
With two-factor enabled, even if someone else obtained your Cardmarket username and password, they still could not log-in as you or access the core functionality for your Cardmarket account.
To enable 2FA, please visit the "Security" tab in your User Control Center, and follow the instructions there. Two-factor is supported across all browsers and requires an Authenticator app supporting the "TOTP protocol" - like Authy or Google Authenticator - to generate your six-digit verification code.
As a handy security reminder: Choose a strong and unique password for your account. We recommend (and require) at least 8 characters with lowercase and capital letters, numbers, and special characters. Also, we recommend that you not reuse passwords from other websites on Cardmarket.
We will continue to improve 2FA and will work to allow users to enable 2FA for other actions worthy of protection on Cardmarket.
